Wood Windows

Historic wood windows are our specialty. They are the perfect combination of function and fashion: they keep a home light and airy while providing unique historical charm. Our process is designed to preserve as much original material as possible. We strip windows down to the bare wood, remove glazing, and address any areas of deterioration. We finish all windows with hand-laid glazing puddy and new paint or stain. Our process focuses on weather resistance, functionality, and historic integrity.

Doors and Entry Ways

In historic homes, doors are one of the main focal points, and their design helps to define the character of the overall structure. Preserving the craftsmanship of an entryway is essential to maintaining the historic feeling of a home. Like windows, we strip our doors down to bare wood and refinish with high quality materials to make them shine again.

Storm Windows

Storm windows help to insulate and preserve your historic windows by creating a barrier between the window and the outside world. This gives your windows a major boost against sun, rain, and other exposure. We work with Mon-Ray Storm Windows to distribute custom made, low profile, and high performance storm windows across the St. Louis area and beyond. We will also install wood storm windows made from accoya. We recommend storm windows for all of our clients but specially those looking to improve energy conservation, noise cancelation, and longevity of windows. 

Functional Repairs

We understand that not every window and door needs a full rehab - and that’s the great thing about these historic pieces: they were made to be fixed! We are happy to fix minor functional issues by replacing weatherstripping, reroping or rechaining, and repairing minor damage.

Hardware

Often, historic metal hardware is the first to fade from the spotlight. Either from corrosion or a neglectful paint job, the intended luster and details can be lost to time. With historic pieces, its the small things that make the difference. That’s why we save as much of your original hardware as we can!
